Health Insurance

Health Insurance is mandatory for all UCLA registered students and is a condition of enrollment. The UC Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP) is a comprehensive medical insurance program offered to UCLA students. All registered students are automatically enrolled in UC SHIP, but if you have comparable insurance and you do not want to keep UC SHIP as dual coverage, you must submit a request to waive enrollment by the specified deadline dates.

  • Happy Fall, Bruins! Click here for important insurance information for the Fall quarter.
  • UC SHIP waiver website is closed.
  • The next opportunity to waive or cancel a waiver will be 12/1 to 12/20/16 for quarter and semester students.
  • Need an insurance ID card? Download the new StudentHealth mobile app for an electronic copy of your medical ID card.
  • Note: If your waiver is denied, you have 14 business days to submit an appeal.  Please be aware Waiver Appeals take up to 30 days to be processed. Fees must still be paid during this time. If the waiver appeal is accepted, then the credit will post on to BruinBill in 3 business days.
  • UC SHIP now satisfies Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC).
