I am graduating this quarter. How do I extend UC SHIP and how much will it cost?
You may extend UC SHIP for only one additional term after graduation. However, it also depends during which term you are declaring to graduate. For example, if you are graduating at the end of the winter term, UC SHIP coverage ends January 1, 2014. You would have 30 calendar days from January 1, 2014 to initiate the enrollment process and payment to extend UC SHIP. Overall, you have 30 calendar days prior to the end of the term or after the end of the term.
The name of the extended UC SHIP plan is called the “Non-Registered Voluntary UC SHIP” and it is more costly than the regular UC SHIP during the academic year. Insert link for Non-Registered fees.
Wells Fargo Insurance Services, a contracted affiliate of UC SHIP, is solely responsible for this insurance extension. Please contact their office for enrollment paperwork and direct payment(s) at (800) 853-5899.
You may contact the Student Health Insurance Office at if you are unsure whether or not you qualify for this extension pending your graduation date.
