Bruins living in the local community—UCLA is bringing testing directly to you! COVID Mobile Testing will be available throughout the week in locations convenient to where many Bruins live in our local community. Offering a test that is simple and painless —a self-administered mid-nasal swab— the COVID Mobile Testing Bus makes COVID-19 testing quick and easy.
You can use this site to access the COVID Mobile Testing Bus planned route, self-testing instructions, FAQs, and information on how to participate in the COVID Mobile Testing Bus program. COVID testing with this program is completely free and provided exclusively to UCLA students, staff and faculty.
The COVID Mobile Testing Bus is a partnership between The Arthur Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center and UCLA Transportation to bring COVID-19 testing directly to your local community by BruinBus. The COVID Mobile Testing Bus will be available Monday through Thursday (and select Fridays - see schedule page) along a prescheduled route in the Westwood/Los Angeles community, offering free testing exclusively to current UCLA Bruins: students, faculty and staff. Eligible participants can participate by arriving at the testing site location where the COVID Mobile Testing Bus is parked and obtaining a COVID test kit.
The cost for testing at the COVID Mobile Testing Bus is $0 for all eligible participants.
All current UCLA students, faculty and staff are eligible to participate in the COVID Mobile Testing program for free.
You must have an active UCLA Bruin Card to participate in the COVID Mobile Testing program. For UCLA students, this means you must be an actively enrolled student (with or without UCSHIP insurance) who has paid all registration fees, or be someone who is on an approved leave of absence. For faculty and staff, you must be an active employee of the university. Regrettably, UCLA alumni, post-docs, and Extension students are not eligible for this program.
To participate in the COVID Mobile Testing program, arrive at the COVID Mobile Testing bus site and obtain a COVID testing kit from staff. You will then register your account with SummerBio (the contracted laboratory for processing COVID-19 testing for UCLA’s community screening) using your smart phone. Once you have completed your self-collect nasal swab (instructions here), please return it immediately to the COVID Mobile Testing Bus for processing.
Yes, the COVID Mobile Testing route is available on the COVID Mobile Testing site (see below for details). The route may change periodically, so please read all instructions during registration to ensure you are navigating to the proper location. Also, please note any subsequent communications from UCLA, The Ashe Center, SummerBio laboratory, etc. to be kept aware of any changes to the planned COVID Mobile Testing Bus route.
COVID Mobile Testing is currently available from 8am-3:00pm Monday through Thursday (and select Fridays - see schedule page. Note: There is no scheduled route available on weekends. Should that change, the COVID Mobile Testing site will be updated to include the new route and added dates/ times.
You should use the COVID Mobile Testing Bus service as often as needed to maintain proper community screening per the UCLA protocol for monitoring COVID-19 – or as indicated by your individual department. Those graduate students living in university apartments, but not regularly coming to campus, are required to test every two weeks, though may test more often if they prefer.
To participate in the COVID-19 Mobile Testing Bus program, eligible Bruins (active students, faculty and staff) need only bring their smart phone and Bruin ID card.
Most COVID-19 test results will arrive—via text or email, depending on what you selected when you registered—within 24-36 hours.
