The Ashe Center is dedicated to making our services more accessible to patients outside Los Angeles or anywhere else around the world.

We realize that the idea of receiving healthcare services via web-based technologies (known as telehealth) is a new concept for many people. To help you become more familiar with the process, check out these answers to our most frequently asked questions.

What is Telehealth?

The use of live, two-way audiovisual interactions between you and your provider through video visits. The Ashe Center is offering telehealth through video visits during the LA County Safer at Home order.

What Are The Ashe Center’s Video Visits?

Instead of coming in to The Ashe Center for an exam, consultation or follow-up appointment, you can connect with an Ashe provider using Zoom on your computer or smartphone. You can discuss symptoms, as well as diagnosis and treatment plans, without having to leave your home or workplace. In other words, it’s just like a regular appointment with your Ashe provider, only more convenient. You also can consult with our specialists, including Physical Therapy, Dietician, Sports Medicine, Dermatology, Allergy, and Neurology.

Are Video Visits Covered by UC SHIP?

Yes, both UC SHIP and Bruin Care cover video visits with a $0 copay. For patients who are not enrolled in UC SHIP or Bruin Care, the fee is $49 billed directly to the BruinBill account.

Are Video Visits Secure?

Yes! The Ashe Center uses a HIPAA-compliant method for conducting video visits through Zoom. This means the information is securely transmitted and is treated the same way it would be if you were meeting with your provider in person.

What Conditions Can Be Treated using Telehealth?

What Do I Need in Order to Participate in a Video Visit?

You’ll need access to a reliable, high-speed internet connection and a computer, smartphone or tablet with a video camera and microphone.

How Do I Participate in a Video Visit?

Your video visit will have a scheduled appointment time. Make sure you are in a private and comfortable location at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. Five minutes prior to your video visit, you will need to log in to the Patient Portal and click on Appointments. Under your upcoming appointment, click the link to the Complete the Questionnaire prior to your appointment time. To begin the visit, click “check in” or “join meeting.” Your provider will join you at the scheduled appointment time. Please stay logged in for the duration of your appointment in case your provider is running behind.

What if I Prefer to See My Provider in Person?

During the COVID-19 emergency, all patients must be pre-screened by a clinician BEFORE an in-person visit can be scheduled. If you have been cleared to come for an in-person visit, the provider or a support staff member will schedule an in-person visit. If you have any questions, please call us at 310-825-4073.
